A Promised Land My Notes (1)

We have talked before about selecting the title and the cover design I believe they are two factors why the book has sold many, many, copies in a few days after it’s been published. The image on the back cover was brilliant, the shadow of Obama, standing in a dark room, looking through the window where the light comes from outside as a sign of hope.

In the preference Obama has described his last trip using Air Force one as a president of the United States, with this conflicting feeling, happy because he will have the time for the family and he needs some rest after eight years of hard-working, and worrying because he is not happy about the election results, Knowing that Trump will work in the opposite direction not building or adding to what he has left.

Over the book, Obama did not skip any chance to mention his family showing that he is a family man, and he is well connected with his family, maybe because of his childhood which he will talk about it in the first chapter “The Pet”.

We have to mention that the preference has been written recently in August 2020, Therefore, he has included the current situation and talked about the pandemic. I will quote “As I sit here the country remains in the grips of a global pandemic and the accompanying economic crisis, with more than 178.000 American dead, businesses shuttered, and millions of people out of work. Across the nation, people from all walks of life have poured into the streets to protest the deaths of unarmed Black men and women at the hands of the police.” I believe in this piece of text Obama wants to blame Trump, of miss handling the situation, which is true to an extent.

Here I have to ask myself a question, what if Mr. Obama is the President during this time, being a formal president, knowing all the policies and tools, being aware of what’s allowed and what’s is not allowed, how can he handle this situation! Maybe be he has talked about this somewhere else that I’m not aware of, I just love to hear the answer. Before jumping to any conclusion, in my opinion, Trump, has miss handling the situation from day one.
