What do you consider freedom?

I have been talking about learning, development, improvement, and the importance of learning during a person’s life. One of the things I have learned is to question the definition of any subject we are about to discuss the definition, will give a better understanding, it will draw the outlines, which will make the topic crystal clear, it will determine the direction, and make it to the point.

Here in this topic, we are talking about “Freedom”, which is a very broad word, and an open terminology, it could be explained with many different views, and perspectives. So, to get more information and a better understanding, I have asked around, and here are some definitions, people come up with, and I will try my best to deliver them as they have been told as much as I can:

  • Freedom is to be at liberty to live according to their conscience. To be unrestricted in what you eat, what medicine you take, where you go, and with whom you associate. To decide how best to raise your children.
  • Freedom is to live as free as possible from the chains of delusion and credulity. Freedom begins within the individual and spreads from there. Freedom and fear cannot cohabitate, so the more one fears, the less free one therefore is.
  • Freedom is to be able to express yourself from within. You are free to create and do what you want. Freedom is to be respected by others rather than being mocked, threatened, and forced. Freedom always starts within you. It’s essential to understand that you could never have freedom in your outside world unless you carry it within you; it’s a quality that needs to manifest inside each being. The inner freedom just cleans away so many things like desires, hopes, beliefs.
  • Freedom is the very purpose of Human History. Thousands of years of blood, sweat, and tears. It has taken us thousands of years to arrive at Political Freedom. We are always in danger of backsliding. Some social forces push hard in that direction. Yet, freedom is always desired by those who have no Freedom. It is their fondest dream.
  • Freedom to is living your heart, feeling your heart, doing what it says.
  • Freedom is being you without anyone’s permission when you don’t need to pretend as if you are someone else.
  • Freedom is a feeling like you are flying like a bird in the sky of your dreams, beyond all the boundaries, or you are standing on the sea, feeling the cold breeze on your soul.
  • Freedom is not unlimited. We can’t break the laws of physics, but the laws of physics do not determine human behavior.
  • Freedom of expression and free to worship is freedom of nation that could offer people. The actual freedom is when we are governed by universal moral law and order.
  • Freedom is the ability to live your life as you like while always respecting the rights of others to do the same and when your, and their rights conflict find a middle ground in agreement. The only way to protect your rights is to protect the rights of others.
  • Freedom is to worship almighty according to their own beliefs. To be out from under a government that assumes illegitimate authority by claiming to know better what is good for me but then refusing to accept the responsibility when their facts become fiction.
  • Freedom at its most basic definition means without constraint, resistance, and or limitations; the ability to practice your religion without restraint (for the most part). I t is the Ability to say or express your thoughts or beliefs without suppression and restraint from government and or state forces.

After viewing the previous thoughts and views, and before I come to my conclusion, I would like to apologize for the repetitive meaning, as I have said before I will try to do my best to deliver all views as they have been stated. I have noticed one thing, no one talked about the others, how about the freedom of others. We don’t live alone, we live with someone else, in a society, I suppose that as we think about ourselves, we have to think about others as well.

In conclusion, and generally speaking, freedom is the ability to be able to do whatever one pleases, whether it is freedom of speech, practicing religion, it is living your heart, feeling your heart, doing what it says, as long as they are abiding by some sense of moral code. Whether this is civil laws or divine laws, one needs some guidance in one’s life. I understand that we have a big problem defining what these morals are, and truly trying to see if what we imagine is good, is good. I understand that we express things differently depending on the mental mind, society, race, culture, religion, education, philosophical views, political views, and a long list more. This understanding has given me more peace of life as well as freedom within. Freedom is a responsibility, and nobody is more nor less than anyone else. We are all created with intelligence and creativity. They are there for us to evolve. That’s real freedom. And nothing called absolute freedom, it has to be self-controlled.

People fight to gain their freedom; however, on the other hand, on a parallel line, some people have given away their freedom they don’t look to be free anymore. Since freedom is connected to responsibility, and to be free is to be responsible, they hand over the responsibility for their own lives because they don’t want to work and they’re willing to buy this lifestyle with their God-given rights. They become increasingly angry because they come to understand that their rights aren’t enough to pay that bill, they need everyone to chip in. They just don’t understand why we do not share their appreciation for laziness. Or maybe they are afraid of something, even when it appears to the outsiders that these people have lost all credibility, they continue in their old means of perception because they now know no other way to proceed.

Even though freedom is a human right, “liberty is not licensed”, history has told us a different story, the way to freedom was never easy, people have suffered, a lot of bloodsheds, and sweat; yet, they are suffering to gain their freedom. There is too much work to be done and I don’t think prayers or hours of meditation are going to give people their freedom, they need to be educated about their duty and rights; they need schools and teachers. I think we should investigate our true nature much more as well as more serious. This will give the base of freedom which has nothing to do with religion and politics or power struggles.

We all love Freedom because internally we all love God, the creator, God creates and gives us Life, Family, and Friends. So, we struggle to be Free to get closer to God. All human beings desire God, and God is the freest, God is Freedom itself.
